The Pick NAMM Gig!

This new year has been a whirlwind of new shows and most importantly picking the release date for my latest album “Comin’ on Strong”.  March 1, 2012 be prepared for my new cd that will be available on CD Baby.  More details on this to come!

I am so honored to be playing at the “Pick and Grin” for Charity Event this weekend Sunday January 15th at 3:30PM.  All of the proceeds for this event go toward the Joy of Music School, a non-profit organization based in Knoxville, that provides free music instruments and lessons to disadvantaged and at-risk children.  If you are in the area, please check it out!

It is such a blast to play shows with my good friend Roxie Randle in our group As Girls Go.  If you haven’t already, please come see us at a gig! Playing solo is wonderful, but I do love the change and energy I get from this project.  Here is a fun snap-shot from one of our latest shows:

As Girls Go

Next week I will head out to California for the NAMM show.  While out there I will also be filming an episode of Gigging and Grubbing.  So far, 2012 has been such a blessing and I could not be more thankful.  I look forward to the coming weeks!  Please check out the calendar for more updates.

It’s getting close to the end of the year and I’m looking forward to spending the next 6 weeks or so getting “organized” and not living out of a suitcase quite as much during that time. Check my calendar though! I just updated it and I will be adding more shows for December.

I’ve already started the reflection process that happens for me around this time. What was great about the year? What did I accomplish and where did I fall short…why? Some mistakes are glaring and obvious to me. WHAT WAS I THINKING??? I have also found myself in the midst of a situation asking, “how did I get here AGAIN,” and wondering how many times I will go through “this” before I finally get the lesson. There are a few I think I got. I guess I’ll find out…

The ideal outcome is to learn from a mistake AND get inspiration for a great song out of it…

There have been accomplishments made, personally and professionally, that I’m incredibly grateful for too.

It’s all part of the human experience but I want to be conscious of moving forward emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, in my work, etc… and never use my humanity as an excuse to screw up.

I’m so grateful that it’s been a year of making music. I appreciate everyone for coming to my shows and/or making my music a part of your life in any way. You have allowed me to do what I love. I pray the same for all of you!

Edwin McCain Show @The Square Room-HAASDESIGNS

It’s been a really cool couple of weeks. I’m so honored and excited to be McPherson Guitar’s “featured artist” this month. Check out www.mcphersonguitars.com to see my interview and hear me playing an incredible McPherson guitar…

I recently opened a show for Edwin McCain and had a fantastic time playing. He and his band  were amazing AND were also incredibly sweet guys!  My new favorite Edwin McCain song is “Sorry I’m a Little Sober.” Wow… http://www.edwin.com/

So…I have to share that a huge thrill was meeting HECTOR at the Atlanta screening of BEYOND THE MYTH: A Film About Pit Bulls And Breed Discrimination, where I performed for the VIP after party (www.beyondthemythmovie.com). Hector was one of Michael Vick’s victims of cruelty as a fighting dog. Hector is now living a wonderful life as a certified therapy dog. And, I must say, I certainly felt better after spending time with him at the party!! Check him out on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/HectorThePitBull

Victoria Stilwell, star of the Animal Planet TV show, “It’s Me or the Dog,” was also there and gave a powerful introduction (she calls BEYOND THE MYTH, “a fantastic new film about the perils of BSL, the beauty of pit bulls, and what we can do to help”). National Pit Bull Awareness Day is October 22nd!  Check out http://www.blessthebullys.com/ if you’d like to learn more : )

October 21st I’m performing at “Weimstock 2011: An Evening of Peace and Music” at The Shed in Maryville, TN. I’m very excited about this event to benefit Wolf Creek Weimaraner Rescue. I hope everyone who can will go to the web-site now at http://www.wcweimrescue.org/ for all of the details about the evening and to get tickets in advance!

Peace!

Edwin McCain, McPherson Guitars & ARTPRIZE

Super Hero

Hi Everyone ~ I’m so happy you stopped by my web-site. There are really cool things to share.

I’m in Grand Rapids, MI in the midst of the ARTPRIZE Festival. There are visual artists: painters, sculptors, etc., dancers, poets, musicians…showcasing their art all over downtown Grand Rapids. I can’t wait to walk around and check it all out. The weather’s perfect too. I’m staying here at The Mackinaw Harvest Music Studio where I recorded my current project, “Comin’ On Strong” (yes, still in the works) with Michael Crittenden and Doug Frasure. This place is DA BOMB!!! I’m showcasing for the festival at St. Ceclia Music Center Saturday around 5:00, with Michael and performing other shows in the area which are listed on my web-site calendar.

SO…I’ve loved Edwin McCain’s music for years and I am priviledged to be opening for him at The Square Room in Knoxville, TN on September 30th. This is going to be a great show and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be “sharing” the stage with Edwin McCain! Tickets are selling pretty quickly but are available at
http://www.thesquareroom.com/

The other cool news is that I will be the “featured artist” on McPherson Guitar’s web-site for the month of October. Please check it out October 1st at www.mcphersonguitars.com ! The entire experience filming the segment and the afternoon I spent with them was amazing.

Thanks for checking in with me…!

September 2011

A lot of cool things are going on in September. There are a lot of new shows that still need to be added to the calendar so please check back soon. I just wanted to be sure and mention to look for my “featured artist” segment at www.mcphersonguitars.com… it HAS been moved from September to October 2011. I had a great time filming it and am so grateful to the people at McPherson!
Look for my new song to be available, “Face to Face.” It just premiered on 106.1 The River. This is a song I wrote with Joe West and Dave Pahanish who wrote Keith Urban’s recent #1, “Without You.” I’m really proud of this song and the amazing production of Michael Crittenden (recorded at his studio, Mackinaw Harvest Music) and Doug Frasure. I hope you like it too. As always, thank you for supporting my music habit!

Kimber's Summer 2011

Kimber's Summer 2011

Thanks for visiting. New shows are constantly being added to my calendar so please check it out often! I’ve got shows with Roxie Randle and in September I’ll be doing more shows with the full band.

Congratulations to my co-writers Dave Pahanish and Joe West (who I wrote the soon to be released song, “Face to Face with”). Dave and Joe wrote “Without You” recorded by Keith Urban and it just went to #1 on the country charts. AWESOME!!!!

I’ve been able to spend some more time writing over the last few months (what a concept), especially with my friend and producer, Scott Gerow, of Battery Lane Music in Nashville. Roxie Randle and I are looking forward to getting our song “This Way”, inspired by the film BEYOND THE MYTH recorded – and my great friend, Lori Rowton, and I just finished a song (she’s one of the most blessed songwriters I know)!

There’s been sad news over the last few months too..several very young and talented people passed away unexpectedly.  I’m so shocked; it’s impossible to understand these losses. It’s also a reminder that life is happening right now and to spend time on the things that are most important. For me that means enjoying the company of people I love, getting off the phone for a while and BEING where I am instead of texting (it’s possible it can wait), spending more time being creative, not letting fear prevent me from taking action…a lot of things…Speaking of…check out The Ryan Michaels Band’s new song (written by Ryan Michaels and Joie Scott) and video “Life is For the Living.” It’s a POWERFUL video…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPF2tS9W3lg

My CD project is being released a little at a time…as we make changes, re-mix, etc…I’ve learned over the last two years that it’s not unusual but I’ve defintely gotten impatient at times! Several songs are available NOW though. Download and enjoy and let others know!!

I had a fantastic photo shoot with Jenn Cady Design Studios in Hendersonville, TN. She is amazing. The picture posted is from that photo shoot.

THEN…I am SO LUCKY…Jeffrey Haas (of Knoxville) and I did a shoot and interview yesterday and I LOVE what I’ve seen. I believe my CD artwork is within these two groups of  photos …

Hope you’re having a great summer and hope to see you!!

Movie Screenings in Memphis, Knoxville & Shows with Roxie Randle!

Aimee Stubbs Photography

This month the documentary BEYOND THE MYTH: A Film About Pit Bulls And Breed Discrimination, is screening in Memphis and Nashville! I’ll be present and performing at both screenings.

The Nashville screening at the Belcourt Theatre will include a concert/fundraiser with other performers including Roxie Randle, The Ryan Michaels Band and Dave Cleveland. I’m really excited for people in my city, people I’ve worked side by side with rescuing, re-homing dogs, and people I’ve admired for years, to get a chance to see this film. I ESPECIALLY hope people will attend who have had reservations about dogs “commonly referred to as pit bulls”…please invite your friends to attend!!!

Both nights will be enlightening, hopefully motivating for some, AND… entertaining. This is a powerful film but each screening seems to affect people in an ultimately positive way.

The high energy music of Ryan Michaels Band (who will debut their new video, “Life is for the Living” at the screening), is definitely heartfelt and motivating; Dave Cleveland’s instrumental guitar compositions are beautiful, uplifting and faith inspired! Roxie Randle and I will be performing a song we wrote, which was inspired by BEYOND THE MYTH called “This Way,” joined by Dave Cleveland and Doug Frasure on djembe.

Please go to www.beyondthemythmovie.com to get all of the details about these screenings and others; links there so you can go ahead and get your tickets on-line!! Also, the song Doug and I wrote and produced with Scott Gerow, STRONG FOR YOU, is available for 99cents and will go toward the high expenses of screening BEYOND THE MYTH: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/strong-for-you-single/id402052106

AND, one more thing!! Check out my good friend, talented artist, Roxie Randle, on the new webisode of  Giggin’ & Grubbin’, hosted by Doug Frasure! www.giggingandgrubbing.com  Roxie and I are doing several shows together this month, including the Beyond the Myth Nashville screening.

Remember that you can purchase my songs here: http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/KimberCleveland1

I hope you have a wonderful June!!

Hope to See You Soon!!

In May: BEAUTIFUL NOISE @ Film Festivals and BEYOND THE MYTH Screenings

Kimber Cleveland, Jay White and Danielle White (no relation)

Kimber Cleveland, Jay White and Danielle White (no relation)

May, the film I played a lead role in and have 9 original songs in, BEAUTIFUL NOISE, has more screenings. It will screen at the Dayton Film Festival and the Park City Film Music Festival In Utah. I’ll be at the Dayton screening on May 21st and performing that night at Gilly’s…! Looking forward to it. I have never played in OH!

We had an amazing time at the Sarasota Film Festival where BEAUTIFUL NOISE premiered last month in April…

Even though I acted WITH Danielle in this movie (a winner on American Idols Junior in 2003 at age 11), watching her on the screen really affected me. She’s an amazing, natural and gifted actor and singer…AND she really breathed new life into the song I wrote with Norris Johnson, “Maybe You’ll See Me When I’m Gone.” Wow. It was HER song and I’d never heard it before. God knows I’ve sang that song A LOT.

Thanks friends and really kind acquaintances, even strangers, who either helped me get out of Knoxville to the premiere in Sarasota when all kinds of crazy stuff went down…or those who were there for the premiere.
Some great friends traveled a long way to be there too and that made it even more special.

I am really excited to announce that the documentary, BEYOND THE MYTH: A Film About Pit Bulls And Breed Discrimination, is screening in my town of Nashville, TN June 16th at The Belcourt Theatre! The night before, on the 15th it will be screeing in Memphis, TN. I’ll be attending both screenings and performing!! Artist/Guitarist Dave Cleveland, artist Roxie Randle and the Ryan Michaels Band will be performing for the concert after the Nashville screeing as well!! Please go to the website: www.beyondthemythmovie.com for tickets info and screenings in other areas…

AND a reminder that my song, STRONG FOR YOU, which is featured in the film is available for download on itunes and all proceeds help to offset the expense of screening the film.

Thanks for checking in. See you soon!

Beautiful Noise @ The Sarasota and St. Pete Film Festivals

March was an amazing month. I had such a wonderful time playing music and being a part of the Beyond the Myth movie screenings and performing for the Wolf Creek Weimaraner Rescue “Weim and Cheese”. When you’re involved in helping animals, often you see the worst part of human nature and complacency…tragedies and sadness. However…!! (and I know this is not written correctly; don’t care) You also have the priviledge of meeting the most wonderful, loving, giving and sacrificing people.
I have been blown away and humbled by the beautiful souls I have encountereed JUST THIS month!! Libby Sherrill, the producer/director of Beyond the Myth: A Film About Pit Bulls And Breed Discrimination, Amber Keirn of Wolf Creek Weimaraner Rescue and Jodi Preis of Bless The Bullys are just a few of my heroes. I met more new heroes at the Louisville screeening of Beyond the Myth. There are SO MANY unsung heroes out there silently, and sometimes not so silently(!) carrying out their “labors of love” for animals…education, transport, feeding, rescuing, re-homing, spending, spending, spending (money they don’t always have)!! So many lose countless hours of sleep, miss events – and work – because they’re stopping to get a terrified dog off of the highway. Many of their friends and family call them “crazy”. I appreciate you “crazy” people SO MUCH!!! Whether you rescue dogs, teach children to read, stand up for equal rights, feed the homeless…whatever. I admire anyone who looks beyond him or herself to help others. It’s almost NEVER “convenient”, is it? I’m always learning from you!!
On that note…April 16, I’ll be performing for an event called “Rockin’ For Rescue”! Check for details on my calendar.
So…the indie film, BEAUTIFUL NOISE is premiering at the Sarasota Film Festival April 9…this month!! I am a lead character in the film and am performing several of my original songs. Danielle White and Jay White are the other leads and will perform a few of my songs too (as well as other original songs).
There will be SIX screenings during the festival. Wow…there will be a soundtrack available soon too. You can go to www.beautifulnoisethemovie.com Looking forward to it. Many of you have let me know you plan to fly out to see it. Yikes! I’m a little scared…but we’ll have a blast!!
Will keep you posted on other screenings and the soundtrack…
Have a wonderful April!!
